Every wednesday night club 'consolador de dos caras' will be changing the lyrics of that easybeats classic as
midweek becomes the minds principal night of longing.

The front room is still operating as a free market with all your favourite music you never knew you liked from our irregular yet robust dj's so bring along your music / art / publications / etc for sale while you still can . If the front room has a weird dinner party or so function that could possibly not be part of dual plover then the entrance is around the side on edgar lane.

While in the back room we'll have 4 live acts every week for a nominal charge (usually $5 but may vary depending on touring acts). We open at 8pm and live acts in the back are between 9pm and 11:30 however the club is licensed til 6am so please feel free to stay on drink or dance to whichever dj is still playing.

FRONT ROOM-Game Boy Australia Presents: Divide By Zero, Przewalskis Horse and 10k 'on the decks'.
Expect Game Boy noise jams and fresh 8bit tunes being dropped.

 

BACK ROOM-
Presseject are sarah davies (vocals, keytar, laptop) and sarah bock (vocals, nordlead, electribe). The band formed in 2006, originally with a more extended line-up of girls who all met through the scooter collective - a DIY music collective in sydney which puts on regular gigs for local, interstate and international girl musos. www.scooter.org.au
 
Since then, presseject have developed their sound into a current blend of electronic queer upbeat noise pop (note to ed - we just made that genre up).
 
In 2007 the band released their first album *.pop (ASTERIX DOT POP) and headed overseas, taking time out to write songs, play gigs and generally act cool in places like Singapore, Berlin, Leipzig and Amsterdam.
 
In July 2008 Presseject will release their 2nd limited release CD (6 tracks tucked into a limited edition slimline design handbag...!) before heading interstate to tour in Lismore, Brisbane and Darwin.more info + jukebox

Little Pictures - Little Pictures are a boy/girl duo that live in Wellington, New Zealand together where they play electronic pop music and hang out on the internet. They fiddle with synths, samples and a glockenspiel to make something a little glitchy, a little catchy, and a little awesome. Some people call them cute, but they're actually bad to the bone! Having been recently been signed to Lil' Chief Records along side The Brunettes and The Ruby Suns, Little Pictures are poised to release their debut album 'Owl + Owl' this month. 

 

Popolice (MELB/NZ) - One-man band, Popolice, needs little introduction in Australia's indie-pop scene. Originating in New Zealand, Popolice has been performing here for around 3 years, already scoring supports for Midnight Juggernauts, Muscles, Damn Arms, Regurgitator and, more recently, Cut Copy, who hand picked him after seeing his support slot for Mercy Arms at Streetparty's 'Pogo' night. They also included one of his tracks on their recent mixtape, 'So Cosmic', which was used to promote their latest, top charting album. Popolice rarely plays in Sydney.

Nikko -Hailing from sunny Brisbane, Australia, these four young gentlemen of varying levels of scruffiness play music that makes you want to break stuff as much as it makes you want to hug someone. Triumphant, yet humble. Engaging, yet distant. Soaring but grounded, Nikko has remained one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets since their live debut in early 2006. Most definitely a live force, Nikko are known for their vast guitar-driven harmonies, pounding rhythm section and visceral performances. With influences stretching from 60’s underground gods The Velvet Underground, to modern post-rock champions Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky, the band has managed to create a sound that is both original & unique, a sound that has helped them carve a lovely niche in the local live circuit. An active local act over the last few years, Nikko has played at venues including Via Studios, Milton Alley Bar, the Lions Den Café, the Chophouse in Surfer’s Paradise, the Globe Theatre, Tongue & Groove, Wolf Gang at Alhambra Lounge, The Zoo, Empire, Bar Soma, the Troubadour, and Ric's Bar pretty much every other week.

tim olive -     Osaka resident, born and raised on the Canadian prairies, began playing electric bass at age 12, fueled by 70's hard rock.  A move to "the city" brought exposure to free jazz, early electronic music and the music(s) of Asia.   Efforts were made to accomodate these sounds within the range of rock instrumentation in the bands Nimrod and Soap-Jo Henshi, but eventually periodic rhythms and tempered pitches were jettisoned in favour of open forms, improvisation and exploration of the full sonic possibilities of steel strings and magnetic pickups, the number and diameter of strings varying periodically. 
   Extensive touring in North America, Europe and Japan has provided opportunities to play with a wide range of musicians, as well as long-term playing recording relationships with Jeffrey Allport, Shinichi Isohata, Fritz Welch, Francisco Meirino (aka Phroq), Nishikawa Bunsho (in the duo Supernatural Hot Rug And Not Used), as well as a duo with dancer Corrie Befort.

TV for cats - BORN IN MELBOURNE IN LATE 2006, TVFORCATS IS A PRODUCT OF MORPHING A FAIRLY CONVENTIONAL LINEUP UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME, TO A MORE CONFIDENT AND CHALLENGING TWO PEICE ATTACK. IN EARLY 2007 AFTER PARTING WAYS WITH A DRUMMER TWO WEEKS BEFORE AN UPCOMING GIG, A RESOLUTION WAS MADE TO PROGRAM THE ENTIRE SET ON DRUMS ELECTRONICALLY, TO HONOR THE GIG COMMITMENT. THE SHOW WAS SUPRISINGLY SUCCESSFULL WITH A NEW GRASP OF FREEDOM ELECTRONICS PROVIDED, THE FUTURE WAS LOOKING GOOD. A FEW MORE SOLID SHOWS AND IT WAS DECIDED TO SPEND THE REST OF THE YEAR DEMOING AND RECORDING AN E.P. ACCLAIMED JAPANESE ENGINEER/PRODUCER NAO ANZAI WAS ENLISTED DUE TO PAST PROJECTS OF ELECTRONIC AND CHALLENGING INSTRUMENTATION. 2008 AND TVFORCATS EMERGED WITH THE RELEASE "END....SILENCE", WITHIN WEEKS IT HAD RECIEVED AIRPLAY ON SYN, RRR AND PBS INCLUDING A LIVE TO AIR ON HOIST AND NUMBER 1 ON THE SWEET 16. A FEATURE IN BUZZ MAGAZINE, FEATURE ON POLAROIDSFORANDROIDS.COM AND A SPOT IN THE LORD OF THE FRIES MONTHLY NEWSLETTER. THE REST OF 2008 SEES SOLID SUPPORT SLOTS, AN INTERSTATE TOUR AND POSSIBLY OVERSEAS IN 2009
